The Alberta Automotive Recycling and Dismantling Association (AARDA) is a group of more than fifty Alberta businesses, committed to leading the way for our industry in terms of the environment, recycling techniques and best practices, and staying aware of industry trends, issues and opportunities to achieve more positive outcomes. Our vision is a vibrant and strong industry and the achievement of high environmental standards for the benefit of our members, our customers and Albertans generally.
AARDA’s principal aim is to conserve the valuable and substantial resources involved in producing and operating the vehicles driven by Albertans today when they become damaged or inoperable, by recycling the parts. Directly related to this, AARDA undertakes to inform consumers about the environmental and economic benefits of using recycled parts so they too can contribute to this enrichment.
In addition AARDA serves a key role in protecting the environment when processing ‘End of Life’ vehicles. Our member businesses remove and arrange for the proper disposal of substances within these vehicles that would otherwise be toxic to the environment. This includes mercury, oils, gasoline, refrigerants and battery chemicals to name a few as well as tires and other materials that must be removed so that the steel bodies can be safely shredded, then melted back to re-usable steel.
AARDA seeks to work for the benefit of its members and all industry stakeholders to promote a ‘greener’ and more successful automotive recycling industry in Alberta, while also making contributions to conservation initiatives at the national level.
